Because it uses a patented high reflectance UV surface coating, light is amplified, intensifying the UVGI (UltraViolet Germicidal Irradiation) field in the enclosed duct.  This results in a UV dosage level sufficient to kill most airborne pathogens in flight, regardless of their flight paths through the UVGI air chamber.
