UPDATE April 29,2009: The World Health Organization has raised the pandemic threat level to 5, meaning that human-to-human transmission of the Swine Flu virus is occurring in at least two countries. Public health officials believe that the Swine Flu virus (H1N1) is spreading like other flu viruses do each year, through infected individuals coughing or sneezing while other individuals breathe in the contaminated droplets that contain the virus. Infection can also occur by touching contaminated surfaces and then touching the eyes, nose or mouth.
